7/30/2010 - RAGBRAI Waterloo to Manchester

RAGBRAI #38
Day 6
Waterloo to Manchester, Iowa
Miles: 66.6
Max Speed: 33.4
Average Speed: 11.8

(1) Above left: Morning usually consisted of a 5-10 minute line to the huge coffee machine. (2) Above right: Today started out cloudy and then it rained pretty hard for a while. It was actually a cold rain and those unfortunate enough not to have rain gear were pretty miserable. Many punched holes in garbage bags and used that as a rain poncho.

(3) Above left: The rain ended and the skies parted to make way for blue skies. (4) Above right: Today's trip seemed to go fast and we were at the next camp site before we knew it.

(5) Above left: After a nice shower and a bit of relaxation, it was off to town we went. (6) Above right: Many towns used strong steel cable stretched out between trucks to serve as a parking rack.

(7) Above left: Manchester was gearing up for a live concert later that evening. (8) Above right: When the main street in town gets shut down and 20,000 people come rolling into it looking for food, refreshments, and entertainment - it is a news maker.

(9) Above left: Other cyclists were living like a pig too! (10) Above right: Due to some flooding, one of our over night town campsites had to be relocated. Here are tents near a corn field. Hard to believe that tomorrow will be the last day.
