Natchez Trace Parkway Elevation Profile

Natchez Trace Parkway Elevation Profile.
South to North route, 7 Day trip.
Approximately 64 miles / day avg.
Mile Posts (mp) are approximate.
Profile spikes may look bad but
grades are very easy for cyclists.
(Elevation scale of the images vary)

(Above Left) Natchez (mp-0) to Rocky Springs (mp-55). Disregard the 1st 15 miles on this first map. Those were miles ridden in Natchez before I got on the NTP.
(Above right) Rocky Springs (mp-55) to Ridgeland (mp-102).

(Above left) Ridgeland (mp-102) to Jeff Busby (mp-193).
(Above right) Jeff Busby (mp-193) to Tupelo (mp-266).

(Above left) Tupelo (mp-266) to Colbert Ferry (mp-327).
(Above right) Colbert Ferry (mp-327) to Shady Grove (mp-408).

(Above left) Shady Grove (mp-408) to northern terminus/Nashville (mp-444).

I hope these profiles will help in your trip planning so you won't be worrying if there is a monster hill around the next corner.

Are you missing a map there?
The last leg seems to be missing.

No, the last leg was from mile post 408 to the terminus at mile post 444. I clicked on the image and it linked to the larger image. All appears to be in order.

Hey Rob,
Thanks for these....I am planning a ride from North to South....any major reason not to do it in this direction?

I haven't been able to find a reason to do it one way or another. Any thoughts? Also, any thoughts on the camp grounds out there? I was planning on 62 miles day and have it all planned out. It looks doable.

Thanks, Joe

Joe - Not only does it look doable, it is doable. I have shared the layout of my trip, showed where I camped, and discussed trip direction in this blog. Try reading it to answer your questions and for other valuable tips.

To see a north to south trip from October 2009, go to:

This contains a series of contemporaneous entries from the trip my husband and I did on our tandem. We were self-supported, but did not camp out. There are some great bed and breakfasts along the way.

Also check out warmshowers.org
There are some awesome people you'll meet through bicycle touring. I'm currently in the middle of Tennessee and will be riding south to pick up the natchez trace headed south from Columbus, Ohio to baton rouge and then through Texas to Mexico.
